Soy Granules Masala
There are days when I absolutely do not want to cook or rather get into the kitchen itself. My passion takes a backseat on these days and I end up cooking something just for the sake of it which in turn ends up in the refrigerator waiting to be thrown away.
Today was one such day and I decided to make a decent side dish what my daughter likes so that there are no left overs.
I made a simple gravy with soy granules which she loves. A simple but flavorful and healthy side dish for rotis.

  1. ½ pack soy granules
  2. ½ cup finely chopped onion
  3. ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes
  4. 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  5. 1½ teaspoon chilli powder
  6. ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
Dry roast and grind to a powder:
  1. ½ teaspoon cumin
  2. ½ teaspoon black pepper
  3. ½ teaspoon fennel/sombu
  4. 1 teaspoon coriander
  5. 1 teaspoon khus khus/poppy seeds
  6. 2 cloves
  7. 1 small piece cinnamon
  1. Prepare the granules according to the instruction on the packet and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai/pan, add chopped onions and sauté till the onions turn soft.
  3. Now add ginger garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder.ground masala powder and salt and combine well.
  5. Immediately add the chopped tomatoes and sauté well for few minutes and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes or until the tomatoes are soft and a nice masala forms.
  6. Stir in between. Now add the prepared granules and mix well.
  7. Add ½ cup of water and bring to a boil. Simmer on medium heat untill you get the desired consistency.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with rotis.
TIPS: Coconut paste or Cashew paste can be added to the gravy to make it little thicker.
