Jhiva for Ingredients OR JFI event is coming to Cilantro for the month of May. Jhiva for Ingredients OR JFI was conceptualized by Indira of the celebrated blog Mahanandi. Each month the hosts choose a natural ingredient and I have chosen Cilantro.
Personally, I fall into the cilantro-loving category so much so that I named my blog "Cilantro". Cilantro plays a quintessential role, adding its distinctive flavor to many dishes, sauces and stews. Most dishes, even if they don't list cilantro as one of the ingredients will call for it as a garnish to add that final touch of piquancy. Cilantro and coriander are still an integral part of many cuisines throughout the world, and gaining popularity all the time. I thank Indira, for giving me this opportunity to host Jihva for Ingredients~Cilantro. I invite you all to join me in rediscovering the value of Cilantro.
Cilantro(Coriandrum sativum) is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. The leaves are variously referred to as, Cilantro in the United States, Culantro in some regions of Latin America, Dhania in theIndian subcontinent and increasingly in Britain, Kothimbir in Marathi, Kothimira in Telugu, Kothambari in Kannada, Kothamalli in Tamil, Ketumbar in Malay, Kişniş in Turkey, Xiang cai in Mandarin, Heung choy in Cantonese, Go su in Korean, Coriandolo in Italian.
Here are the guidleines for participating in Jihva for Cilantro:

1. Prepare a dish that features Cilantro as one of the main ingredients and post it in your blog between now and the month of May 2009. Please note that recipes with just cilantro as garnish will not be accepted. I have restricted to only fresh Cilantro/Coriander leaves therefore NO Coriander seeds or powder please.

2. If you already have appropriate entry archived, please make sure to repost it with a link back to this announcement page. But it will be great if you cook a special dish for this event.

3. Provide a link back to this announcement page and feel free to use the logo below.

4. Email your entry to jficilantro@gmail.com with JFI-Cilantro in the subject line with following details
* Your Name
* Blog Name
* Blog URL

* Type of a Dish (For example, Snack, Starter, Main, Side Dish, Dessert, Beverage etc)

* Recipe Name
* Recipe URL

5. The deadline for this event is April 30th, 2009. UPDATE: The deadline for JFI-Cilantro is rescheduled to April 30th from May 31st as previously announced. I had to change the dates based on the guidelines of JFI. I had initially planned for May 31st to give enough time for the participants as there was very little time left after I got the confirmation for the May event. Please accept my apologies. I will be posting the roundup on May 15th so if you are not able to send it on time, I can accept entries until May 10th. Thank you for your co-operation.

6. There is no limit to the number of entries. If you don’t have a blog but wish to participate in this event, send your entries with a picture, your name and recipe to jficilantro@gmail.com before the deadline. I will post the recipes with your picture in my blog and include it in the round-up.
Looking forward to your involvement. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
