Our trip to San Diego,California on the occasion of our daughter`s Birthday during the the four day break from school last week was planned well in advance. We took a flight to LosAngeles to meet up with old friends and drove to San Diego on an unbelievable six hour drive.
We visited Sea World the next day at around 9:30am, watched different shows and attractions, had lunch and waited for the Dolphin Interaction Program.
My daughter loves underwater animals and it was the perfect gift we could give for her Birthday. She always wanted to do it and now was her chance to jump into the water with SeaWorld’s friendliest dolphins and to interact nose-to-nose with these amazing creatures. Once she put on her wetsuit and booties, she was ready to splash around with her new friends, practice with them, feed them lunch and touch their smooth glistening skin~ wonderful, special dream for her.

The next day we visited the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, one of the largest, most progressive zoos in the world with over 4,000 animals of more than 800 species. It is also one of the few zoos in the world that houses the giant panda.
The zoo offers a guided tour bus that traverses 75% of the park. There is an overhead Gondola lift called the Skyfari, providing an aerial view of the zoo.

Exhibits include-Monkey Trails and Forest Tales, Panda Research Station, Polar Bear Plunge, Ituri Forest, Elephant Odyssey etc.

We left the Zoo at around 4pm and drove back to Los Angeles within two hours. Had Dinner at our friend's place, celebrated our daughter`s birthday and then the next day, took the train trip back to Seattle.
Linking Los Angeles and Seattle, the three state, 1,389-mile route of the Coast Starlight offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the west while serving key cities along the Pacific coast including Santa Barbara, San Francisco/Oakland and Sacramento, California; Eugene and Portland, Oregon, and Tacomo, Washington.
Shortly after boarding at Oxnard, Anthony our Sleeping Car Attendant, came to our room to offer any explanation and orientation we might need regarding the train. We could have lunch either in the Pacific Parlour Car or the Dining Car. The Pacific Parlour Car offers a limited selection of light items whereas the Dining Car offers a full menu. Five different menu choices are offered for both lunch and dinner and three different items were offered for dessert apart from a choice of vanilla or chocolate Ice cream. Everything about food was great! The quality was very good and the service was very prompt and courteous.
It was spectacular scenery all along our trip. Our arrival into Seattle was at 8:15 pm (the schedule arrival was at 8:45pm). There were taxis waiting at the taxi stand when we got to it. It was a wonderful trip overall and I would recommend everyone to take a train for a relaxed vacation.
