International Buddhist Temple

The Seattle weather has been very kind on us this weekend, sunny and a very warm Saturday. We were planning to visit The International Buddhist Temple in Vancouver and no other day would have been perfect.

We have been to the temple on numerous occasions and I find no words to express my feelings while visiting this Temple. The temple radiates an atmosphere of peace, and calm to elevate a devotee spiritually. "Where there is silence, the spirit is eloquent.” Volunteer guides and staff who explain about the Temple and teachings of Buddha assist the visitors.

The Kuan Yin Temple of the International Buddhist Society is a magnificent and authentic example of Chinese palatial architecture. This temple would fit nicely on the banks of the Yangtze River with its golden, porcelain tiled roofs and lions, made out of marble, that guard the temple at the foot of the granite stairway.Lots of traditional Chinese art and culture are on display as it is evident with the many solemn Buddha statues and exquisite shrines. The workmanship in the sculpture, embroidery, and carpentry is unbelievable. There are also many silk paintings and spectacular ceramic murals. There is a quiet grace and tranquility at the Prayer hall and Classical Chinese Garden leading to a spiritual awakening.

We spent about 25 to 30 minutes at this Temple and about 15 minutes at the Murugan Temple nearby. We returned home by evening.
The wait time at the border was about 5 minutes each way. Vancouver is about three hours drive from Seattle depending on the wait time at the Border.
Sunday was Tamil New Year ~ called home to wish everyone and prepared for the Poojai.
